A 1964 SG
This classic, sharp horned and sculptured body style took over the
"Les Paul" name in 1961 from the slab double cutaway version. It has double pointed cutaways, scaloped mahogany
body, a single P-90 "dog ear" pickup, 3 layer black beveled pickguard, gold "Gibson" peghead logo,
"Les Paul" silkscreened on peghead, nickel parts and a cherry red finish. There was also an SG TV model with
the same specs but with a limed yellow or white finish that was supposed to show up well on black & white TV. In late 1963 "Les Paul" was removed from the peghead and model officially known
as the "SG Junior". Apparently Gibson had never obtained Les Pauls approval for this model!
